I didn’t know I was holding my breath in church spaces until I joined my first gathering at Miriam’s Song. After experiencing what church could and should be, I’m conscious not to minimize who I am and what I believe. Miriam’s Song makes me believe church can be a good and safe and holy space, as she should be, and this is a hope I didn’t know I needed after countless experiences of hurt within church spaces.

As a biracial African American and Latinx woman, I have found it to be profoundly moving for me to attend Miriam’s Song Church. It has been a welcoming place where I can learn more about the prophets of the Bible through conversation and lens with other women of color. This has added a deeper connection with myself, new connections with my community of sisters, and ultimately a stronger and more intimate connection with God. I’m excitedly looking forward to more series to come at Miriam’s Song! “

"For a long time, I thought that my faith, like much of the world, had to be black and white. It felt like there was no space for curiosity, contemplation or color. I attended a Miriam's Song service during their lent series and it felt like I had found what I had lost--the fully integrated, fearfully and wonderfully made me and we in the context of faith and our interpretation and practice of it. If you're looking to get fed, come hungry and expectant."

“What I love about Miriam’s Song is the freedom we experience there. We can be our full selves before God and one another, without fear of judgment or being misunderstood. We experience the freedom that the scriptures promise to those who love God. We encounter the divine image embodied in one another and in ourselves as women of color. We laugh, cry, and celebrate every time we meet. It’s intimate and real. Miriam’s Song is good church.”
