FALL UPDATE
Whenever I think about the breadth and depths of the community surrounding Miriam's Song, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude.
The birthing team committed to creating rhythms that would not leave us exhausted. Sometimes, I feel a pull to move faster and do more. Then I remember that Miriam's Song is moving at the pace of relationships.
Here's what we've been up to this summer:
We hosted a healing circle that was led by a member of the Miriam's Song family. It was a beautiful time of listening, affirming, and building community. I want Miriam's Song to be a place where folks can share their gifts without feeling burdened or taken advantage of.
There was also the very first hybrid gathering around a discussion of Our Unforming: De-Westernizing Spiritual Formation by Cindy Lee. I loved hearing folks come alive around the beautiful ways that Cindy put words to the feelings in our hearts and souls. One of the practices that stirred something in my spirit was the invitation to ask, “God, when you first imagined me, who did you see?”
This fall, a group of Godmothers will come together around the values of relationship, reciprocity, and reimagining to co-create the foundational documents that will guide the future of Miriam’s Song. We'll continue to cultivate and support this new community guided by the love of God, inspired by the Bible, rooted in authenticity, respect, and shaped powerful narratives of women and non-binary family of color.
Our next sermon series will celebrate Miriam’s Song’s first birthday during Advent. Stay tuned for more details. If you’re not already following me on IG @revshawrobinson, I plan to post more regular updates and engagements.
