FOR US, By US
Miriam’s Song Church centers the healing, wholeness, and flourishing of Women of Color guided by the divine liberation embodied in the person of Jesus. This includes our non-binary and genderfluid fam that might feel best held by the feminine energy of the Divine.
Yes, it is a church. I know that it can be messy and problematic, but I still love church. The Black church where I was raised was an early taste of the belovedness inherent to my Black female body. I know that isn’t everyone’s experience, but I believe there is an opportunity to reclaim and reimagine the church as a place of liberation, curiosity, and co-creation.

I believe that healing, wholeness, and flourishing for women of color will happen when we practice community away from the white and male gaze. We can hold up a mirror for each other to remind ourselves that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of the Creator. We can eat, dance, cry, rest, shout, listen, sing, and maybe even pray toward a deeper faith that changes us and the world. Together, we can learn to breathe deeper and to dream bigger.
When I talk about the Women of Color Church Baby, people often ask if white people or men can come. The answer is - not yet. (That doesn't mean that we won’t gladly accept monetary donations from anyone and everyone who wants to support this community.)
Women of Color have so few spaces where we get to exist and create away from the white and male gaze. Together, we’ll share our needs and what we have to offer. We’ll establish rhythms of life together and be honest about how we communicate, have conflicts, and make decisions. I’m so excited about the ways that we will grow, dream, fail, and follow the Holy Spirit together.
